The August 1st FIRST ARTIST gathering with 11 creatives started at 6:00 P.M. The session commenced with a discussion of stuffed crust pizza. The consensus is that stuffed crust pizza is misplaced human innovation.

Prime Time Players:

Gloria Cassidy of Santa Clarita – Gloria presented drawings and collage. Her strength is expressing hope and optimism. Although, there is cryptic symbolism within many of her compositions that people may interpret differently.

Bob Markovich of Jurupa Valley – Bob presented a selection of five photographs from his “Entropy” series. The metaphoric images feature an isolated insect positioned on sheets of exotic paper. The insect/paper combination creates a new context and subtly suggests the entropy process. These images are understated and over-saturated with life forces.

Steven J Cahill of Redlands – Steve shared a new panoramic image of the boardwalk along the Oxnard coast at sunset. This 360° view is bathed in golden light. It features himself with Carol Dixon basking as sated travelers within the center of a peaceful vista. Also captured are candid vignettes of people doing human curiosities.

Steve Thomas of Rancho Cucamonga – Steve shared a short series of photos: “Snapshot of a Beach Tree.” The series explores a dying tree within a populated coastal place in California. This once majestic Ash Tree was introduced sometime between 1950 and 1960 and is an artifact of imported landscape strategies, plantings for the pleasure of early automobile campers.
