Author Biography
Dr. Slatkin is the author of the first comprehensive history of art in the region: Art and Commnity in California’s Pomona Valley: 1930-1980 (CCMA, 2026). Previously, Dr. Slatkin authored Portrait of a Community: Selections from the Chaffey Community Museum of Art (CCMA and Inlandia Institute, 2021).
Dr. Slatkin was awarded her Ph.D. in art history from the University of Pennsylvania. She has over 30 years of teaching experience, at the college level.She is an emeritus facullty member of Cal Poly, Pomona. She has expertise in all time periods of western art history, from antiquity to the modern age, with a special interest in women artists. Prof. Slatkin has published a number of scholarly articles, in peer reviewed publications, and is the author of Women Artists in History (Cognella, 6th edition, 2026) and In Her Own Words (Cognella, 2nd edition, 2019.)
